This is quite the full household! We have just two and I can't even imagine the energy these two wonderful parents must muster every day. Kudos to Nick and Jenny for raising four wonderfully unique and passionate fellas!
Neck Point in Nanaimo BC, never ceases to amaze me with all its wonderful twists and turns. So many little spots I've yet to discover. It has every kind of landscape you can think of; ocean, beach, cliffs, dense forest and an especially vibrant Autumn. This whimsical place even has Faerie doors.
I love being surprised by the families we photograph. Through my lens I get this privileged insight into the families life and their children's wonderful personalities. My passion as a photographer is ignited in that perfect blend of nature and personality.
This shoot, in particular, was a gloriously saturated mess. From our window that morning, the wife and I debated if we should proceed or post pone. It is one of the challenges of outdoor candid photography. Children are unpredictable. One missed nap and you could be in for a tough shoot. Add rain in to the mix and you could be really in trouble. We have recently switched over to the Fujifilm mirrorless camera systems and so I had the added worry of getting my sparkly new gear wet. We persevered as always and so too did this charming family.
The day was a challenge and I empathized with these wonderful parents. Wrangling and nurturing four young boys is not for the faint of heart. I also commend their determination to capture this time in their lives right now. Not only did they manage to all get to the shoot on time, they were all so stylishly coordinated!
